About
Steven Remington
Systems Architect | Compiler Engineer | Physical Crafter
I operate at the intersection of high-level logical abstractions and low-level physical constraints. My work is driven by the belief that software is not a neutral mechanism, but a manifestation of intent that must be architected with an intimate understanding of its host environment—whether that environment is a multi-node GPU cluster or a passively cooled microcontroller in a leather-bound cyberdeck.
Art and the act of creation is some of the human experiences to exist and it should be treated with love, care, and kindness.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Florida.
The Digital Void: Compilers & Systems
My foundational expertise lies in Compiler Infrastructure and Language Design. I focus on:
- Parsing Strategies: Developing high-signal, low-latency command structures for classic programming languages and agentic control.
- Memory Management: Implementing deterministic resource allocation (custom allocators, pool management) for long-running edge daemons.
- C++20: Leveraging modern systems programming to bridge the gap between abstract reasoning and silicon.
The Physical Node: Edge AI & Autonomy
I architect Agentic Systems designed to survive outside the “infinite” compute of the cloud. This involves:
- Orchestration: Managing local GGUF execution loops on Nvidia Jetson and Raspberry Pi hardware.
- Hardware/Software Co-design: Building custom I/O modules and telemetry displays that expose the internal state of the “Cortex.”
- Offline-First Philosophy: Ensuring autonomy is physical, not dependent on continuous connectivity.
The Artifact: Craft & Physical Manifestation
Design is not limited to code. I apply the same principles of modularity and structural integrity to physical fabrication:
- Textile Engineering: A deep exploration of tactile systems through sewing, knitting, and quilting—treating fabric as a complex, multi-layered medium for structural patterns.
- Cosplay & Prop Design: Utilizing EVA foam and leatherwork to build artifacts that bridge digital fiction and physical reality.
- Cyberdecks: Engineering bespoke mobile computing nodes that house the hardware for my AI research.
- Acoustic Traditions: A long-time musician currently focused on the Octave Mandolin and Banjo, specifically studying the rhythmic and melodic structures of Old-Time music.
Personal Nodes
When I am not debugging memory leaks or drafting patterns, I am likely being supervised by my adorable kitty, Sophie.
